Rossendale valley is on the rise, with new developments such as the new retail park at New Hall Hey. This offers new shopping outlets such as: Pets at Home, TK Maxx, Costa Coffee, Dominoes, Aldi and Marks and Spencers.
Spinning Point Development
Rawtenstall town centre is currently in it’s initial phase of regeneration, with a new 8 lane bus station and new office spaces for Together Housing.
The local council are spending a staggering 5.4 million pounds on the new project. This will definitely bring a fresh modern look to the town.

A’vucciria
Named after one of Italy’s most visited markets in Sicily, A’Vucciria (which translates to ‘hubbub’), is a sophisticated, Italian tapas or “Ciccetti” bar and eaterie found on Rawtenstall’s popular bank street.
In a sophisticated and stylish setting, A’vucciria use the best of modern and traditional Italian flavours, drawing inspiration from local and authentic Sicilian produce in their dishes.
In 2018 they won the UK’s best Italian restaurant at the national Italian Restaurant awards and is an exceptional addition to the area.

St Mary’s Chambers
St Mary’s Chambers is a fantastic local entertainment venue which provides a wide variety of entertainment, live music and events.
The venue has hosted some huge names, from members of Take That and other popular groups, established bands and acts from the 80’s and 90’s, well known DJ’s and high quality tribute acts and show’s that cater for people of all ages.
The venue has become a great addition to the area’s entertainment and live music offerings and have seen people visit the venue from all across the UK to attend some of the high profile events they have had on offer.

Firepit Restaurant
Now… this is a very special place for us. We go regularly and LOVE the steak on a stone from here, you’ve got to try it! it’s the best steak in town. The Firepit also has a cocktail bar upstairs which has every drink you can imagine.
The cocktail bar can be dangerous though if you are booked in for a meal.
We’ve missed our table once or twice through drinking and chatting with friends.

Rawtenstall Market
Rawtenstall Market is a thriving and vibrant place to shop, eat and drink. With a wide variety of quality traditional market offerings such as fresh produce, butchers, fishmongers, deli, haberdashery.

The Whittaker Museum & Art Gallery
The Whittaker is a forward-thinking museum and art gallery nestled in the grounds of Whittaker park in the heart of Rawtenstall.
After a £2.2m revamp the museum has become a hive of cultural activity with a range of artistic exhibitions, theatrical performances, an engaging and interactive museum which celebrates local culture and history and a high class restaurant and bar.
The Whittaker is an extremely popular destination for people of all ages and backgrounds and wouldn’t be out of place in a bustling city centre.

East Lancashire Railway Rawtenstall
Rawtenstall, is the end of the line for the East Lancs Railway. The station in Rawtenstall is home to the Buffer Stops that has some of the best real ale in Lancashire.
There is a famous ‘Rail Ale Trail’ that runs from Rawtenstall to Ramsbottom and back again. The line also regularly features famous steam engines such as the Flying Scotsman and the Tornado.

Ski Rossendale / The Hill
The famous Ski Rossendale dry ski slope has been a valley hotspot for over 45 years. If you tell anyone that’s not from Rossendale where you are from, they usually ask, “is that where the ski slope is?”.
The slope was even advertised at Euston Station in London in 1984 to educate “Southerners” that there was more going on “up north” than they thought.
The ski slope offers training courses on skiing & snowboarding. Kids can play on Fun Tubes and have parties there.
There is an on site cafe powered by Ninja Coffee serving warm drinks and food and snacks. There’s something for everyone here.

Adrenalin Gateway – Lee & Cragg Quarry
Lee quarry Stacksteads used to be a fully functioning quarry. I used to play around on my mountain bike there as a youngster.
In recent years, the quarry has been turned into a man-made adrenaline-fuelled bike park. The quarry offers different routes for different skills of rider.
This is definitely on of our favourites. Some of the team at Coppenwall are avid mountain bikers, spending a lot of time up the quarry and on the fantastic biking trails around the valley.
There is a fantastic famous ride called the Mary Townley Loop. This is a 47 mile bike ride around parts of Rossendale! It’s not for the faint hearted!

The Rossendale Way – Walk
This famous walk around the stunning countryside is a massive 41 miles and follows the Rossendale Borough boundary.
The walk will take Holcombe Moor, Musbury Heights, Calf Hey Reservoir, Haslingden Moor, Rising Bridge, Loveclough, Clough Bottom, Brown Wardle Hill and Cowpe Moss.
Best enjoyed on a Summers day (or few days) this walk is a must for anyone in the Rossendale valley.

Marl Pits Leisure Centre Gym & Swimming Baths
Nestled in the fantastic rolling hills in Rawtenstall just off Newchurch road, Marl Pits is a great facility right in the heart of Rossendale. Marl pits has a gym and swimming pool, a rugby club, football pitches, running track and a large car park.
There’s often team events and training done here for football, netball and rugby clubs. There’s also a fantastic garden centre and new golf driving range here.

The Rose ‘N’ Bowl Carvery and Pub
We’ve been regulars here for well over a decade, and this is undoubtedly the best Carvery in the North West.
The Rose N Bowl is also famous for its events, including: gigs on the bowling green. Yorkshire, pudding eating contests and the WORLD FAMOUS Gravy Wrestling Championships. One of the Coppenwall team has actually been a champ on two occasions!
Let’s not forget the Rose N Bowl has a fantastic full size bowling green that’s always full of avid crown green bowlers.
There’s so much to offer in the Rossendale valley, including it’s rich history, vibrant nightlife and great eateries. It’s no wonder the area is becoming a property hotspot.

Royal Court Theatre
Rossendales only theatre, based in Bacup, offers shows, musicals, dance troups, cinema and much more.
Royal Court hire out their professional theatre and conference facilities to community organisations, performing groups, local societies, dance and drama schools, businesses and education providers from across the North West.

Whitworth Swimming Pool & Leisure Centre
This is a small but mighty fitness centre that has excellent, state-of-the-art equipment that will help you work up a sweat.
For cardio lovers, there are treadmills, rowing machines, exercise bikes, step machines and elliptical trainers.
Swimming At Whitworth Leisure Centre
There are two swimming pools, one for teaching and one for general swimming, which measures 25 meters.
Their parent and toddler groups are a great way to give your little one water confidence whilst having fun.
They also have lane swimming for the over 50s, adults only sessions, and family fun on the weekend.
